The Gertz File Investigative Report is an online newspaper and publication of The Gertz File Investigative Reporting Project, Inc., founded in October 2020 by Bill Gertz, a veteran journalist with more than 35 years of experience. The mission of the Project is to educate the public and governments on a wide range of national security and international affairs topics.
The Report is a unique news publication that uses the flexibility of digital news media to provide continuous updates for the major investigative and in-depth reports posted online.
The Report leverages freedom of the press to produce regularly-updated, high-impact stories addressing national security threats, abuses of power, and other wrongdoing. It is through such reporting that this news outlet seeks to hold those responsible accountable.
Our highest priority is producing in-depth and investigative reports that will educate domestic and international audiences to the challenges and threats posed to the security of the United States and other free nations.
The Gertz File Investigative Reporting Project follows a trend adopted by many investigative reporting outlets — the shift to online specialty reporting sustained through grant funding and private donations.
In addition to The Report, The Project produces the podcast Victory Over Communism with Bill Gertz featuring news reports, interviews with newsmakers, and a critique and counterproposal of Chinese communism and American Marxism. In the future, the Project also plans to produce documentary films, both short and long, that will highlight the results of investigations.
The fundamental guiding principle of The Gertz File Investigative Reporting Project is to provide accurate news and information to the general public unavailable from other news outlets.
Bill Gertz is an award-winning journalist who is a national security correspondent for The Washington Times. He is the author of eight books, four of them New York Times bestsellers. His most recent book, Deceiving the Sky Inside Communist China’s Drive for Global Supremacy, provides a detailed look at threats posed by the People’s Republic of China, the ruling Chinese Communist Party, and its military wing, the People’s Liberation Army.
